Every great camping trip includes a few rips, snags, and tears. It’s just part of the fun. Your camping gear takes a lot of abuse and it occasionally needs a boost from you to stitch it back together after. You can quickly make just about any repair right away when you have a well-stocked camping gear repair kit on hand.
For Sewing – To repair any tears you happen across during your camping trip you can bring a standard sewing kit. Make sure to have needles (several sizes including large and curved versions), a variety of weights for thread, safety pins, magnifying glass, needle threader, buttons, scissors, and snaps.
For Patching – Have a tent patching kit on hand. You can buy them ready made or make your own. Be sure to have seam adhesive and a variety of patches to fit most instances. Bring electrical and duct tape which can be used in so many situations. If you have them, it is also useful to have a grommet kit and a few extra buckles and zip ties on hand.
Odds & Ends – Of course, you’ll want to have a hammer, set of screw drivers, and pliers. Add some spray lubricant and a strong pair of scissors. Bring a sampling of nuts, washers, nails and screws. A roll of wire and some bungee cords will come in handy, and make sure you always have a tarp at hand to protect your equipment either from the ground or from the elements.
You can be prepared for whatever may go wrong with your camping gear while you are on vacation by just having the right tools on hand. We hope your trip is incident free but if that can’t happen we hope you’re well prepared and can get back to your vacation quickly.
